The purpose is to inspire supervisors to apply a variety of strategies and tools to make supervision an enjoyable and effective process. The lecture is a kick starter for new supervisors who are looking for concrete input and ideas in less time.Content
The lecture outlines research-based advice on how supervisors can collaborate with their research candidates to ensure a highly effective supervision process. At the lecture, you will be introduced to concrete tools for:
- building positive work relationships with your candidates
- providing constructive feedback, and
- communicating effectively in ways that support independence.

Gitte Wichmann-Hansen, PhD is a Senior researcher at Aarhus University, Denmark, and owner of the consultancy “Academic Supervision” that offers high quality professional training of research supervisors. She is an established and publishing researcher within the field of supervision, and she has 20+ years of experience with running workshops for supervisors at all career stages across European Universities.
